At the creation of SpaceX in 2002, a clear and only goal was set : bringing down the cost of the launch into orbit as much as it can be, with the idea of creating a civil spatial industry and so, bringing private companies to the extraterrestrial challenge.
With the exponential evolution of the company and its in-house developed technologies, Elon Musk, the founder, has shown a new and updated ambition : the colonisation of the solar system, starting by Mars.
The Falcon 1 is a reusable light rocket launcher which is an asset for the SpaceX wallet. The first launch had place the 26th mars 2006. It can carry over 870 kilograms into low orbit. It is used to repair other devices. It measures 21,3 meters and has a weight of 333 tons. It is a symbol of technological prowess.
The Falcon 9 is a medium rocket launcher. It is the first big innovation for SpaceX and scientifics because it is the first rocket to help supply and repair other ships. The first launch had place the 4th june 2010. The last model can carry over 22,8 tons into space. It measures over 55 meters and has a weight of 333 tons.
The SpaceXDragon is a space cargo ship launched into space for the first time in 2012. It can carry over 6 tons of fret which is a breakthrough in term of technological achievement, it is used to assure the supply of the NASA.
The Merlin rocket motor was used on the Falcon 9 and Falcon 1 and had a low consumption which was useful to save resources. SpaceX stopped its production because more efficient engine were developed. Nonetheless it was a breakthrough on the scientific field.
The Kestrel engine is a low thrust motor. It is pretty small considering the other engine built by SpaceX. It is the first engine using Oxygen and Liquid Kerosene. Both combined supplies the engine. It weighs 52 kilograms, unfortunately its development has stopped since the Falcon 1 abandonment.
The Draco is a rocket engine with a low thrust of 400 newtons. Its first flight to the space occurred during the inaugural launch of the Falon9 rocket the 4th june 2010. It can be switched on multiple times which is a technological success. It’s purpose is to correct the directions of the spaceship.
The Raptor engine is the first member of the “rocket family” using cryogenic methane. It is using the staged combustion which has a low consumption. The Air Force has invested more than 33,6 million dollars in this project.
Many people already know the existence of SpaceX because of the Mars colonisation announced by Elon Musk, but besides this future-oriented project hides the major activity of SpaceX : sending communication and military satellites. This activity represent more than 70 percent of the yearly income.
It created opportunity of partnership for SpaceX, like the contract signed in 2017 with the US Air Force. In 2014, after many years of collaboration and support, NASA officially entrust SpaceX for the extraterrestrial transport of their astronauts and supplies to the ISS (International Space Station).
Besides, they’re already working on the 2019 project : creating a constellations of 4000 satellites around the Earth to provide a internet connection all over the world.
SpaceX made its name to the general public thanks to its colonisation program aimed to Mars. The idea is said to be eccentric because of its prematurity. The SpaceX program is said to have 10 years in advance on the NASA. However the project is real, and in development. Thanks to the BFR, people will be able in the near future to go to Mars. But what is the BFR ? BFR stands for “Big Fucking Rocket”, a trivial name for a condensed of technologies. The first travel to Mars is planned for 2024 with large spaceships or “cargos” bringing the supplies necessary for the future colony.
Mars has been chosen for multiple reasons : the first being the relative proximity with our blue planet, the second being the favorable atmospheric and climatic conditions, allowing the hypothesis of a human colonisation.

In 2013, Elon Musk initiated a fifth mode of transport to create a better alternative to the usual cars, planes, boats and trains transportation. The idea is to create a high speed transport reaching the 1200 km/h, which is nearly the speed of sound.The first commercial lines of HyperLoop could be ready and operational at a horizon of 2020. HyperLoop One realised the first successful trial test on the 11th May 2016, convincing many investors that the project is ready and deployable. The “train of the future” will be safer, less polluting than planes and non-impacted by climatic variations.
